Handwashing is a cornerstone of public health, yet access to facilities remains a significant challenge in regions with limited water and sanitation infrastructure. The WASHBOTTLE introduces a practical solution: a specialized cap for standard plastic bottles that transforms them into portable handwashing devices, significantly reducing water consumption.
Motivated by the importance of this mission, we contributed our prototyping expertise pro bono to support this impactful initiative. Building on encouraging feedback from various DIY prototypes, we dedicated our efforts to developing and refining a functional prototype for the WASHBOTTLE cap. Designed with scalability, practicality, and user needs in mind—grounded in insights from the pilot phase—the prototype demonstrates the design’s viability and effectiveness.
The ultimate goal is to position the WASHBOTTLE as a scalable, impactful solution. By concentrating on durability, local production capabilities, and mass manufacturability, this innovation aims to gain adoption by governments and support from private-sector partners like regional bottlers. Each step, fueled by collaboration and shared commitment, brings us closer to creating accessible handwashing solutions for underserved areas.
