An inclusive voting machine for Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles County, with its vast population and diverse demographics, sought to modernize its antiquated voting system. While still working at IDEO, we helped them design a new voting system that would be accessible to all voters, regardless of their abilities, language preferences, or technological familiarity. The new system features a customizable voting device with both touchscreen and audio options, allowing voters to select their preferences and receive a printed paper ballot for verification. This system emphasizes accessibility and convenience, mirroring the user-friendly nature of mobile devices, with the hope of encouraging voter participation. The design process prioritizes human-centered design, focusing on the individual needs and preferences of voters.
