Revolutionizing Organ Cooling

About

A breakthrough cooling device designed to prevent heat damage during kidney implantation—transforming transplant outcomes and expanding organ viability.

Every year, thousands of kidneys are discarded due to a hidden but critical issue: heat exposure during the final moments of surgery. Our 2.5-year collaboration with Diatiro led to the Kidney Pod—a first-of-its-kind, easy-to-use cooling wrap that protects the kidney during implantation. It reduces damage, improves long-term function, and streamlines the surgical experience.

We joined Diatiro early to help turn the idea into a viable product. Through rapid prototyping and constant feedback, we refined the fit, handling, and thermal performance across 300+ iterations. From quick tape models to custom foam molds and simulated surgeries, each step brought us closer to a solution that meets the demands of transplant teams.

Beyond the device, we also supported Diatiro’s launch with packaging design and booth experience—ensuring the product was ready for the clinical and commercial world.
